FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awarded to Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co.

Around the middle of 2019, members started discussing the replacing of our self contained breathing apparatus, which was nearing the end of its life span. Our current SCBA were purchased in 2007 and The composite cylinders used are given a 15 year life span, expiring in 2022. With our SCBA’s being one of the most commonly used piece of equipment we carry, allowing us to breath fresh air in hazardous environments, this project was a top priority. A project of this size comes with no small price tag as we expect costs to exceed $100,000.

As a possibility to help aid with funding this project, the department decided to pursue grant opportunities. In the Fall of 2019, we reached out to grant writer Scott Ryno of Ryno Public Safety solutions and applied for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant provided by FEMA.

We are happy to announce that we have officially received notice and were awarded $109,476.00 towards this project.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank FEMA for their generosity towards this project and Scott Ryno for his work to make this possible.
